Nestled in the heart of Enkhuizen, at 9 Kooizandweg, lies a magical getaway brimming with enchantment and vibrant colors — Sprookjeswonderland. In English, it’s quite literally “Fairytale Wonderland”. This whimsical park is more than just a treasure trove of storybook come-to-lives. It’s a wondrous realm with beautiful flower gardens, an enticing playground, and a delightful petting zoo.The park, however, is not open all year round. Typically, it operates from March to October and makes a grand festive reopening in mid-December, coated in winter wonder, appropriately known as “Sprookjeswinterland”. Here, it remains open until the first week of January. The daily visiting hours are from 11 AM to 6:00 PM.
In 2023, the Fairytale Wonderland celebrated a landmark 50th anniversary! June 14 of the same year marks exactly five decades since the first Fairytale Markets were held in downtown Enkhuizen — the event from which Sprookjeswonderland was ultimately born.
Since its inception as a small park in Enkhuizen’s public gardens, Sprookjeswonderland has grown and blossomed. Relocated to its current site in 1991, the park has expanded from a modest 2.5 hectares to an impressive near 7!
Reviewers shower praises on enchanting a Fairytale Wonderland. They share delightful experiences, reminiscing about days well-spent, appreciating ample parking, smoothly flowing queues, and clean and comfortable facilities. For the little ones, it’s a land of dreams, with plenty of slides and exciting things to see and do. The petting zoo hits a high note alongside a playground teeming with fun activities.
The park strikes a chord with toddlers and younger kids most, offering an immersive, kid-friendly environment. Visitors recall fond memories of the shaped boats and the adventure of the wolf and seven baby goats, captivating their 3-year-old’s imagination. Yet, adults aren’t left out of the fun, with the diverse landscape encouraging relaxing strolls among the flowers, trees, shrubs, and friendly residents of the petting zoo. The park’s affordability and variety of attractions appeal to all, extending an invitation to ‘Come and experience the magic!’.
That said, Sprookjeswonderland is not without room for improvement. We heard a number of visitors (and friends) mention issues with the catering facilities (not enough staff to handle the demand), and we also experienced this ourselves—it seems like a structural issue—so do not feel guilty if you bring your own drinks and snacks. In any case, this is a task for the park to work on in the midst of its utter charm and otherwise smooth operations.
To top it all off, Sprookjeswonderland offers highly competitive entrance prices. Children up to one year old can enter free, and general admission for everyone else is very affordable, available online and at the park’s ticket office:
- Online ticket sales: Ages 2–99: starting from €13.50 per person
- Tickets at the park entrance: Ages 2–99: €15.50 per person

ALERT!!! SPOILER!!!
The video below takes you on a 30-minute tour of the park. It’s fun for (grand-)parents to watch, but I suggest keeping it away from the kids, so they get the most out of the real experience.
